SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Mechanic-HVAC will be responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and property structures in order to maintain production and quality systems. This position is expected to perform diagnostics, repairs and adjustments to the various Roof Top Units to include Make-up Air Handlers and HVAC units plus may perform grounds maintenance. All work will be done in compliance with Federal, State, Local, Hazmat and OSHA safety rules and regulations.
Essential Functions
- Maintain the facility Roof Top Units (HVAC and Make-Up Air Units) to include PM’s, Diagnostics, repairs and adjustments.
- Maintain and repair production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
- Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
- May read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
- Perform a variety of basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry functions. Perform other maintenance duties as requested.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
- May help with snow removal in the winter.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Implement preventative maintenance measures.
- Maintain inventory of repair equipment and supplies.
- Complete inspections of facilities.
- Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel and follow safety protocol.
Competencies
- Leadership and Strong time management with the ability to multitask: provide direction, training, monitor work and provide performance feedback.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic math skills.
- Mechanical inclination.
- Knowledge/experience with PLC diagnostics.
- Familiarity with electronic controls
- Operating a variety of equipment like snow blowers, lawn mowers and small hand tools and fork lift etc.
- Ability to be respirator certified.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Occasional overtime as deemed by management. Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must hold a valid Massachusetts/EPA HVAC Certification (refrigerants).
Preferred Education and Experience
- Three years of related experience.
- Additional education or experience.
